Legalize Tiny Homes!

Lindsey Wood - The Tiny House Lady on The Positive Fantastic

You’re probably wondering why you should legalize tiny homes, right? Well, this podcast spells out the truth about how wonderful tiny homes are with the tiny house lady, Lindsay Wood.

Have you ever dreamed about living in a tiny home? In this 12th episode, “Legalize Tiny,” of “The Positive Fantastic” podcast, Lindsay Wood joins me in speaking the praises of these beloved structures. We both share our own stories about how we decided to go tiny.

We describe what exactly makes a tiny home, and explore why tiny homes are economical, ecological, and easy to build. We hope you’ll enjoy this informative episode which dives into the buzz around the humble, remarkable, and fantastic tiny home reality.

I first encountered Lindsay Wood dressed up as a sunflower. Literally. Wood had donned the personality “Betty Biodiesel” and was a yellow petaled cheerleader for sustainability at local ecologically savvy gatherings and festivals.

Lindsay and I reconnected recently as she was looking to re-home her eco-brick collection and I was looking to experiment with eco-bricks as a building material. I love win-win connections. When Lindsay came to drop off her decade of eco-bricks, she saw my new tiny house, and we started to talk shop about tiny homes.

We got really into the ways that tiny homes are easy to build, economical, fairly fire proof, and provide a unique opportunity for community living structures. Lindsay’s personal journey has required her to become more and more active in the political and legislative world of tiny homes, and she describes some of the antiquated reasons why tiny homes are still not permitted in some places. (Spoiler: redlining was rooted in racism).

However, there is a growing movement for tiny homes, and several states have adopted tiny houses with enthusiasm. We’re hoping that as more information becomes available through this podcast other outlets, tiny homes will likewise be embraced throughout California as the right kind of home at the right time. In this episode we look at both how wonderful tiny homes are and why tiny homes need to be legalized. Go Tiny!
