Nature as Muse
I had the great pleasure of sitting down with musical guest Alice Dimicele for our podcast episode, “Nature As Muse.” Alice shared about her lifetime of letting song have its way with her, her singer-songwriter journey, and the many albums she’s released along the way.
With Nature as her muse, several of Alice’s original songs are featured in this episode, including the title track of her newest album “Every Seed We Plant.” You can enjoy the song here to get a feel for Alice’s music.
Alice has also graciously said that I can share her music on my other podcast episodes. So, look forward to hearing Alice being featured as one of Season Three’s musical guests. I hope that you can fan-girl out as much as I have around getting to hear Alice’s amazing gift of song.
I think part of what drew me in initially to Alice’s music was her amazing vocality. She’s easy on the ears to be sure. But when I really started to let her songs sink in, and her words registered, I was really stunned by her exceptional writing ability —I appreciate how often nature shows up as the theme of a song —for me, living out in the woods, anytime anybody is savvy to the Natural world, it opens up a shared world of connection. Nature is my muse in so very many ways as an eco-fiction author, and Alice shares the same muse. I think that makes us creative kin of a sort, related by our mutual love of and inspiration from Nature.
The day that we recorded this podcast, I went to see Alice perform in my little hometown of Redwood Valley. She was touring to share songs from her newest album, but she brought out some old classics too. And, right away, as soon as she started to really get into her groove, Alice had people up singing and dancing together at an outdoor venue. It was good song medicine that day, and I feel really honored to get to share this interview with you.
